How It Fits

The assessment as the front door

For most teams, the assessment is the first engagement: it produces the plan that everything else follows. Some teams use the report to execute internally; others bring us back for adoption, training, or both. Either way, the assessment stands on its own.

Ten signals that predict a successful rollout

Walk through these with your engineering leads. The more you can answer yes to, the faster a rollout will compound. The full assessment covers each in depth and produces a written plan.

    01 · Tooling

    Engineers can install IDE extensions and CLI tools without IT escalation.

    Agentic workflows depend on Cursor, Claude Code, and shell-level integrations. Teams that have to file a ticket for every install will struggle.

    02 · Tooling

    The team is on a modern editor (Cursor, VS Code, JetBrains), not a locked-down environment.

    Cursor is the recommended primary editor. Migrating from a heavily locked-down setup adds time but does not block adoption.

    03 · Codebase

    TypeScript covers a meaningful share (>50%) of the codebase, or the team is open to migrating.

    Type information dramatically improves AI agent accuracy. Pure-JavaScript codebases are workable but show lower agent productivity gains.

    04 · Codebase

    The repository has a working test suite the team trusts.

    Agents validate their work by running tests. Without a trustworthy suite, the human review burden is significantly higher.

    05 · Workflow

    Work is tracked in tickets (Linear, Jira, GitHub Issues) with reasonably specific acceptance criteria.

    Vague tickets become vague PRs. Teams that already write clear tickets adopt agentic workflows much faster.

    06 · Workflow

    Pull requests are reviewed before merge, and there is a real review culture.

    Agentic workflows rely on human-in-the-loop review. Teams without an existing review culture need to build one before agents are added.

    07 · Culture

    Engineers are open to changing their daily workflow if the evidence supports it.

    Healthy skepticism is welcome. Hostility to change is the single biggest predictor of failed adoption.

    08 · Culture

    Leadership is willing to invest in measurement and follow-through, not just a one-off pilot.

    Compounding gains take 6–12 weeks to settle in. Teams looking for instant ROI typically abandon the practice before it pays off.

    09 · Compliance

    You have a working understanding of where your code can and cannot be sent (privacy, compliance, IP).

    Most agentic tools send code to third-party APIs. Teams in regulated industries need to understand the data flow before piloting.

    10 · Capacity

    The team can afford 2–4 weeks of partial focus on rollout without missing a release.

    A successful rollout is not free. Teams in firefighting mode should stabilize before adding new tooling.

A workshop is a one-day intro. An assessment is a multi-week diagnostic that produces a written report and rollout plan. Most teams do both: the workshop builds intuition, and the assessment produces the plan.

Yes, but read-only. We sign mutual NDAs before the audit begins, and no code leaves your environment. We document patterns and signals, not snippets.

If that is the right answer, yes. We have told teams to wait, usually because they were in firefighting mode, or because their compliance posture would not support current tools. Our incentive is to be right, not to sell.

Absolutely. The report is yours to execute on. About a third of assessment clients run the rollout internally; the rest bring us back for adoption, training, or both.
